Benedictine University's
Rachel Wilson has been named as the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) "Student-Athlete of the Week" for the period ending October 25. It is the first NAC weekly honor of Wilson's young career as an Eagle.
Wilson, a freshman forward, had a part in five of Benedictine's six goals scored last week. She tallied three goals and had two assists, as the team won both of its matches. Included in that was a double-overtime victory at Marian University, where Wilson had two goals, including the match-winner in the 102nd minute.
On the year, Wilson is having one of the most prolific freshman seasons in BU history. She currently leads the team in goals scored (10), assists (8) and total points (28).
Wilson also tops the team in shot attempts, as her 52 is more than twice many tries as her next closest teammate. Not only has she proven to be the most aggressive attacker for Benedictine, she delivers quality as more than 69 percent of her shots are directly on goal. She has three match-winning goals this season.
